Introduction
Travis joined the University of St. Thomas in fall 2026 as a visiting instructor while completing his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. His doctoral research focuses on designing robotic platforms for neuroscience applications.
Prior to starting his doctoral studies, Travis spent 14 years in the medical device industry with Envoy Medical Corporation and Veranex (formerly Ximedica). At Envoy Medical, he was part of the engineering team that developed and manufactured the FDA-approved Esteem® Fully Implanted Active Middle Ear Implant and the investigational Acclaim® Cochlear Implant. At Veranex, a contract engineering firm specializing in medical device innovation, he contributed to the early-stage development of robotic end-effectors, drug delivery devices, transcatheter delivery systems, and abdominal insufflation systems. His ongoing research interests center on physical human-robot interaction and medical robotics.
