Introduction

Mary M. Maloney, PhD, teaches courses in both the undergraduate business and MBA programs. In the undergraduate program she teaches an introductory management and capstone course for the international business concentration. She also advises most students in the international business concentration. In the MBA program, she teaches International Business and Effective Team Management elective courses. She has been a co-director for the London Business Semester, teaches custom Executive Education programs for several Minnesota businesses and has been nominated for the Julie Hays Teaching Award three times.

Maloney's research focuses on teams, specifically teams with members from different geographies, cultures, languages and functions. Her research is published in the Academy of Management Annals, Journal of International Business Studies, Management International Review, Organization Science, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes and Small Group Research. She has won several fellowships and awards for her research.

Maloney loves learning about the world. She has lived outside the U.S., mostly in Asia, for several years as a student, expatriate employee, backpacker and professor. Before becoming a professor, she worked in marketing management for 12 years and has firsthand experience wrangling with many of the issues she teaches about.
