Introduction

As an assistant professor of professional writing at the University of St. Thomas, I'm interested in what the work of digital and social writing looks like, specifically as a type of technical and professional communication (TPC). TPC can help diverse audiences easily accomplish action or access information—think tutorials, instructions, or terms of service. As digital and social platforms are key to sharing information, I examine what it means to develop TPC through networked and platformed spaces.

Through my teaching, I aim to help students become more thoughtful writers who can confidently develop equitable and audience-centered pieces of communication. I have taught courses on technical and professional writing, business writing, and digital rhetorics, with plans to teach future courses on usability and user experience, and writing for health and human sciences.
