Introduction

Janine Sanders Jones, PhD began working at the Opus College of Business as an instructor of operations and supply chain management in 2007. Upon finishing her PhD in 2008, she transitioned to an Assistant Professor and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2015. In Fall 2020, Janine transitioned to the Dougherty Family College to serve as theAssociate Dean for Academics. In this position, she was responsible for managing curriculum development,assessment and accreditation, faculty recruitment and evaluation, and student academic probations and suspensions.In July 2023, Janine returned to OCB as the Associate Dean of Faculty Scholarship, Teaching, and Service Excellence. In this role, Janine has overall responsibility for the seven academic departments, the research centers, and the OCB accreditation and assessment office.

Her current research focuses on how identity influences service expectations in minority owned businesses. Prior to this, her research explored the relationship between quality management and organizational culture in various business settings. Her work has been published in Decision Sciences Journal, Journal of World Business, Journal of Marketing Management, and other journals. She has also been featured as a speaker for Minneapolis/St Paul Business Journal, Minnesota Public Radio, Theater of Public Policy, and other local organizations and media outlets.

Before joining academia, Janine worked as an industrial engineer for Merck & Co. She has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Ohio University, an M.S. in Industrial Administration from Purdue University and a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in operations management from the University of Minnesota.
