Hyoseok (David) Hwang, PhD, is an assistant professor of finance at the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business.
Hwang joined St. Thomas in 2026 from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. He earned his PhD in finance from Louisiana State University, an MS in economics from the University of Nebraska, and a BS in economics from the University of Seoul. He teaches undergraduate courses on financial intermediaries and corporate finance.
Hwang's research focuses on how investors and creditors respond to information in financial markets, spanning corporate governance, securities class actions, political corruption, and credit risk.
