Introduction

I really enjoy learning with and from my students, so I teach an eclectic range of courses that allow me to explore new areas and share my interests with others. Although my primary specialty is women’s literature, I also teach courses on drama, African-American literature, and environmental literature. I love attending Twin Cities theater and my adult children work in this field, so my current research centers on this area, particularly the work of Dominique Morisseau and Lynn Nottage. Earlier publication centered on 18th- and 19th-century women writers; I am drawn to writers who want to change the world for the better, like Maria Edgeworth and Lydia Maria Child.
