Abstract
This case presents the story of Cutty Sark, a famously fast sailing ship purpose built to carry tea from China to England. Launched in 1869, she is now a museum in London. This case uses the history of the Cutty Sark to introduce the concept of globalization as well as the ongoing impacts of disruptive technology. The case allows students to explore how these forces continue to influence the present-day economy.
