Introduction

Dr. Tim Mead, Associate Professor in the Department of Health & Exercise Science, is a strong advocate for healthy living. Mead, who was a New York high school state tennis champion, has completed more than 50 triathlons and currently enjoys any activity or sport that involves movement. Some of his other interests are cross country skiing, canoeing and kayaking, golfing, weight lifting and woodworking. “I participated in numerous team sports as a child and try to be an active, healthy and fit role model to my students,” Mead said. “All my classes involve hands-on active learning experiences where students apply what is learned in the classroom.” Before coming to St. Thomas, Mead was a professor at Nicholls State University for seventeen years and taught at the University of Toledo and Ohio State University. He coached and taught in numerous public and nonpublic school settings. Mead enjoys working with personable faculty members at St. Thomas who are willing to help students, as well as his daily exercise routines.
