Introduction

Pat Hedberg, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Management department at Opus College of Business. Her teaching and consulting interests include leadership development, team dynamics, positive influence, building relationships, and leading change. She sees learning as a place where students work together to gain insights about themselves, others, and their ability to do their work well.

As part of her teaching and research, Pat focuses on the practice of reflection combined with intentional learning experiments both in the classroom to deepen learning, and as an organizational leader to gain vital perspective.

Being a leader can be both nerve-racking and exciting. Today's leaders face complicated and uncertain environments. Adding to the complexity is the fact that true leadership is done with others - it is not a solo act, and thus requires collaborative innovation. Pat's current research focuses on what leaders need to do (skillsets) and how they need to think (mindsets) to bring the grace, courage, and resilience needed to help themselves and others navigate current and future organizational challenges.

Hedberg actively consults with several local organizations in developing their leaders. She was the inaugural 3M Professor in Residence and has worked with 3M Human Resources on their global leadership development programs. She received the Mid-Career Distinguished Educator Award from the Management & Organizational Behavior Teaching Society.
