Introduction

I am a very passionate educator who is trained to create inclusive classrooms where all are equally challenged and warmly accepted. In recognition of this, in the summer of 2022, I was invited to teach in the REAL (Reaching Excellence in Academics and Leadership) program for students from underrepresented communities. Many of my courses are Diversity, Equality, and Inclusiveness (DISJ) flagged, and Theme Based Learning Community (TBLC) designated in Social Justice, Human Flourishing, and Changemaking, all for the Common Good.

My advanced degrees, particularly my J.D., support collaborative learning, and my community-driven advocacy work at the intersection of race and poverty informs my work. Many of my courses are interdisciplinary courses, for example, Professions: Law & Faith, Theology and Public Discourse, and Judicial Review: A Citizens Introduction. Many of my courses support the Integrations in the Humanities flag as well.

My courses employ systems thinking, mind-mapping, and creative writing to engage students with primary sources. As a form of mindfulness, my students can also choose how they wish to be evaluated. Additionally, as a mother of six children, I am skilled at managing an array of ages and needs.
