Introduction

Mahak Nagpal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ethics and Business Law at the University of St. Thomas, Opus College of Business. Her research considers the ethical implications of how employees, organizations, and society will ultimately use or interact with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their everyday lives.

Mahak holds a Ph.D. in Organization Management with a focus on Business Ethics from Rutgers Business School – Newark and New Brunswick. Her dissertation was a finalist (top 3) for the prestigious best dissertation award at the Society for Business Ethics. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of St. Thomas, she was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Centre on AI Technology for Humankind, National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School.

She is on the committee for Responsible AI & Society at one of the world’s foremost think tanks, Chatham House. The committee has been tasked with studying responsible AI development and AI's impact on society in cooperation with Google and Omidyar Network. In 2024, she was featured on the 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics list.
