Introduction

Liz Welsh, Ph.D., teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in interpersonal relationships, employee and organizational development and human resources. She also leads the capstone course in the Health Care MBA program.

Before earning her Ph.D., Welsh worked as the vice president of organizational development at InstallShield Software Corp., as a consultant at McKinsey & Co., as a program manager at Microsoft and as a financial analyst at First Boston.

Welsh uses her professional experience in both her teaching and research. When teaching, she uses her experience for examples, cases studies and role plays. Her classroom is a place where students engage with the class material and connect with each other.

When conducting research, Welsh chooses projects that either address questions that leaders need answers to, or tries to make research more relevant for leaders. She has done significant work on mentoring - a key contributor to career success - and recently published work on how employees successfully manage their bosses.
