Chui believes that an effective educator must be innovative, strategic, and compassionate. He is committed to becoming and staying as an infinite learner by keeping up to date with topics related to accounting and education. He is also committed to helping his students to see the big picture by showing his students that accounting is more than numbers as it bears significant meanings in the broader business, societal, and political context. Additionally, Chui believes education is about educating the whole person. It is not enough for him to teach his students debits and credits and devoid of his responsibility to cultivate their social, emotional, and ethical development. He is committed to investing time to learn about their lives, their aspirations, and their struggles. He is also committed to motivating them to overcome both academic and personal challenges.

Chui’s research focuses on judgment and decision-making in auditing. He has published in top tier accounting journals such as The Accounting Review, Auditing: A Journal of Theory of Practice, Behavioral Researching Accounting, and Journal of International Accounting Research. He was appointed as the Deloitte faculty fellow from 2022-2024 and from 2014 to 2016. Chui has contributed to the Star Tribune’s “Outside Consultant” column as well as the WalletHub. Chui was the recipient of the 2016 Outstanding Service Award by the Public Interest Section of the American Accounting Association.
