Introduction

I research nineteenth-century British literature, with a focus on religion and the culture of translation, and I teach across periods in Anglophone literature. For my current research project, I am writing about the poets, novelists, religious scholars, and travelers who translated non-Christian religious texts in the Victorian period, and the shifts in conceptions of identity that became legible in the commentaries attached to these translation projects. My interests span the Victorian novel, poetry, Romanticism, literary theory, and postcolonial studies.
