Jeong Ho You joined the School of Engineering at the University of St. Thomas in 2016. Before joining St. Thomas, Dr. You was a faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Southern Methodist University. Dr. You received his B.Eng. from Chung-Ang University, Korea in 1999 and his M.S. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2002. Dr. You completed his Ph.D. degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007. Following his graduate studies, Dr. You was a postdoctoral scholar at California Institute of Technology until 2009.
Dr. You's research includes computational investigations of electrical transport property, optical absorption/emission, piezoelectricity, and ferroelectricity in applications of nano-/opto-electronics, ferroelectric memory, piezoelectric oscillators, and thermoelectric energy conversion using atomistic-scale (Density Functional Theory), continuum mechanics, and multi-scale simulations as computational tools. Dr. You also has numerically and experimentally studied about acoustic energy harvesting mechanisms which utilize an array of piezoelectric oscillators inside an acoustic tube resonator.
