Introduction

I teach courses in Spanish language and linguistics (e.g., Advanced Grammar, Intro to Hispanic Linguistics, Phonetics and Pronunciation). My research focuses on how adult, second-language learners process, acquire, and use Spanish. Much of that work centers on the role that word order plays in how native English speakers interpret Spanish sentences and on the acquisition of different pronunciation phenomena (e.g., word stress, palatal obstruents). I also serve as the Faculty Director of Academic Policy and Curriculum, where I convene the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee (UCC), the Graduate Curriculum Committee (GCC), and the Committee on Undergraduate Studies (COS).
