Abstract
University of St. Thomas General Counsel and law professors form a panel to explore the implications and legality of President Trump's executive orders on immigration.
President Trump’s series of executive orders banning travel from seven Muslim-majority countries and heightening border security and immigration enforcement resulted in extended detentions of immigrants at airports and sparked protests around the country. The Trump administration argues that the orders lie within the president's authority. However, federal judges across the country have been consistently imposing and upholding restraining orders preventing implementation of the orders. Join University of St. Thomas law professors for a panel discussion exploring the historical context of such executive orders, as well as the legality and implications of President Trump’s recent executive orders.
