Dr. Christopher Morales, Professor of Theology, explores how ideas of friendship and loneliness, drawn from thinkers like Emerson and Nietzsche, can help us better understand political division. His research suggests that loneliness and isolation, intensified by technology, capitalism, and declining social spaces, are key drivers of polarization. Through interdisciplinary work and teaching, he emphasizes the importance of rebuilding meaningful, face-to-face connections to strengthen individuals and society.
