Abstract
Social work as a discipline focuses on theoretical & philosophical positions such as social justice, equality, & empowerment. Whereas these can be described as "philosophies of social work," we should ask ourselves, "What is our philosophy of social work?" This paper provides a personal interpretation of a personal philosophy of social work, how it was constructed, & why social workers should engage in this exercise. The final goal of this paper is to provide a thoughtful discussion that encourages other social workers to investigate their own philosophy of social work & define what a "philosophy of social work" means to them.
