Unelected Silence: An Essay

Abstract

Monasteries Monks Narratives Personal experiences Theology Nonverbal Communication
DelCogliano shares his experiences when he was still a Trappist monk. While silence still remains for him a mysterium tremendum et fascinans, it is no longer as central for him as it once was. It no longer supplies him with the meaning and the life that it once did at a time when he, apparently, needed to be given meaning and life through it.
