Annotation: Koeser and LeBlanc use what they term "speculative reading" to explore gaps in Sylvia Beach's lending library records and the Shakespeare and Company Project datasets. They use Hemingway as a case study, creating a list of books he may have borrowed (which was prior to records being kept on Shakespeare and Company's borrowing activity) and checking it against his known reading activities, which have been catalogued elsewhere.
