- Annotation
- Opens with an overview of the cultural influence of Victorianism on the Oak Park area and the Hemingway household in particular before moving into an examination of classic Victorian themes found in Hemingway s early Up in Michigan, My Old Man, and Out of Season. Concludes that while Hemingway s focus on male/female relationships throughout his canon reflects his Victorian roots, his reshaping of that subject matter to include abortion, bisexuality, and venereal disease marks him as modern.
