- Annotation
- Recalls the 1924 Fiesta de San Ferm n, which Hemingway attended with a group of his American expatriate friends, including writers John Dos Passos and Donald Ogden Stewart. Looks at the festival through Dos Passos s account in The Best of Times (1966), specifically analyzing his watercolor rendering of Stewart s amateur bullfighting injury. Concludes that the painting is a satiric take on the mock heroism of the fiesta and Hemingway.
