- Annotation
- Discusses teaching literature students how to look for moral values considering the postmodern concept that there are no absolute morals. Drawing on Hemingway s A Clean, Well-Lighted Place, Joyce s Counterparts, and Faulkner s Dry September as examples of postmodern morality, Griffin suggests using Richard Rorty s method of interpretation that modern writers rely on ironic self-consciousness to create occasions, rather than motivations, for moral action.
