Abstract
This in-depth analysis of the consumer packaged goods (CPG) food and beverage market gives an overview of the market and describes key attributes contributing to its growth. Severe competition and powerful pressure from retailers are forcing CPG manufacturers to reduce prices. The article analyses existing and future CPG food and beverage supply chains, explores use of business process reengineering (BPR) and other process models such as, CPFR to improve operations and discusses trends in information and ancillary technologies. Also reviewed are supply chain alliances, global consolidations and e-business factors that put continuing pressure on key food and beverage market players to maximize their supply chain efficiencies and effectiveness.
