Abstract
From a corpus of absolute interrogatives produced by 24 speakers, the present study analyzes the suprasegmental effects of the contact between Spanish and Galician. It applies a socio-phonetic methodology and the Autosegmental-Metrical theoretical framework to examine interrogative tonemes according to pragmatic context, task formality, and the participants' exposure to Galician. Results reveal stylistic variation, indicative of the stigmatization of vernacular features, and a contact-induced change in prosodic-pragmatic relationships. Adapted from the source document
