Abstract

Fiction
The year is 1960, and Grace Wells is a sixteen-year-old student at the prestigious Rollins Academy, an all-girls boarding school. Orphaned as an infant, Grace is attending the boarding school on a full-ride scholarship from an anonymous donor and returns to the orphanage for summers. On her birthday, Grace receives a diary from her favorite teacher, Miss Baker and is later sent by a different teacher to receive something from storage in the school’s attic, where Grace ends up discovering the diary of a former student who attended Rollins in the 1940s. Grace works her way through the diary, noting the similarities between herself and the mysterious writer “A.” It’s even inspired Grace to write more in her diary, and work on writing her stories. One day, Grace reads an entry that reveals a dark secret from the school’s past and must figure out what to do.
