Abstract
This paper explores the development and implementation of a cross-curricular program combining Career and Technical Education (CTE) with Music Education. Designed to address the growing threat of budget cuts in the arts, this model promotes sustainability, student engagement, and skill-building by integrating hands-on instrument construction in the music classroom. The curriculum includes detailed lesson plans, blueprints, materials lists, grant-writing guidance, and cost comparisons between classroom-built and commercially purchased instruments. Through a comprehensive review of literature, existing models, and pedagogical strategies, the paper demonstrates how such an approach can reduce program costs, preserve arts education, and provide students with valuable technical and creative experiences. The proposed program not only reimagines music education, but also offers a viable, scalable solution to maintaining arts programs in public schools.
