Abstract
The purpose of this project was to provide a starting point for choral directors who are considering teaching musical theater belt voice to adolescent female students in a pedagogically appropriate manner. A review of literature examines current research regarding the adolescent voice, the effect of belt singing on the vocal mechanism, and the experiences of adolescent singers in choir. This project culminates in a selection of songs and vocalises that are meant to aid the choral director in teaching musical theater belt to adolescent female singers.
