Abstract
The purpose of this project was to use linguistically diverse music repertoire to teach second grade students music goals and objectives based on the Orff Schulwerk pedagogical approach. The linguistically diverse repertoire included songs in Spanish, Arabic, Urdu, and Italian. The majority of the repertoire included in this curriculum project was in Spanish because nearly half of the students included in this curriculum project are English Language Learners (ELL) students who speak Spanish at home. It was a priority to use repertoire to teach these students which validated the language used within their homes. The 2018 Minnesota Music Standards have been included in order to demonstrate the academic and musical sophistication of the included pieces. Specific goals and objectives using a series of repertoire based on the Orff Schulwerk approach as well as the 2018 Arts Standards of Minnesota have been included within the curriculum.
