The purpose of this project is to explore music learning pathways that weave together rich musical experience, Central American cultures, and Orff Schulwerk. The main topics within this project include the value in establishing culturally responsive and relevant teaching practices, an explanation of Orff Schulwerk, and an introduction to specific Central American cultures and music traditions. The second part of this project is a collection of songs and rhymes from Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. Each song and rhyme is accompanied by a set of lesson pathways which are designed to be explored alongside the rich cultural and musical traditions of the country. The learning experiences were designed with Orff Schulwerk in mind and include improvisation, movement, and instrument playing.
