Abstract

audio production live audio mixing
This course is designed for high school students taking a semester or yearlong course in audio production. The course uses project-based learning to teach skills in recording, editing, and mixing live performances. Students will learn about types of microphones and microphone placement, how to set up small and large audio systems, how to work with Digital Audio Workstations for recording and editing, and how to live mix different types of musical ensembles. Students will also learn how to plan for a performance, how to read a technical rider, and how to run a sound check. This curriculum also takes into consideration the proficiency of the instructor. Most music teachers have not received any formal training in audio recording and production. The materials provided in this curriculum should be sufficient for most teachers to be able to teach this course with little prior knowledge about the subject.
