Abstract

Kodály curriculum children's choir
The purpose of this literature review, and scope and sequence are to explore the guiding principles and sequencing of a traditional Kodály curriculum and adapt them to a children’s choir experience. Blending them with choral and vocal techniques from other choral pedagogues to create a Kodály-inspired choral scope and sequence. Designed for singers grades Kindergarten through 6th grade, in three skill levels of choral singer (Novice, Beginner, and Intermediate), this scope and sequences seeks to give an outline of curricular goals for elementary children’s choir directors for melodic, rhythmic, and choral concepts.
