Abstract
The aim of this study was to learn about the variations in career development among psychologists engaged in clinical work during the early stages of their career. Furthermore, it aimed to identify what kinds of career development options they believe would help facilitate their future career development based on those variations. The literature reviewed illustrated the current knowledge about psychologists in the early part of their career and identified how this study contributes to addressing the existing gap in the literature. The rationale for accessing early career psychologists with a non-randomized sampling strategy is explained. Results of the study indicated that variations of current career development exist within the group but that desired options for future career development were almost identical. Implications of the results are discussed, limitations of the study are addressed, and ideas for future research are proposed.
