Abstract

depression children parents Psychology

There are a growing number of children being diagnosed with depression resulting in an increased need for treatment and care for children in order to manage their symptoms. The purpose of this project was to create a support group manual that can be used to provide support and education to parents who are caring for children with depression. The manual provides instruction for practitioners to setup and implement their own parental support group. The eight week group offers parents support and psychoeducational materials to serve as a resource for helping children with depression and providing parents ways to meet their own needs during this stressful time.
