Abstract
The Generalized Method of Cells micromechanics model is used to model the effective mechanical stiffness and electrical conductivity of a low volume fraction polymer nanocomposite with a designed microstructure displaying diagonal packing and axial alignment. Scale is introduced into the micromechanics by sizing the interface layer with respect to the nanoparticle. Varying the property of the interface increased composite stiffness and conductivity and exhibits a percolation threshold like effect.
