Abstract
This paper outlines our preliminary research and development of a wireless wearable wrist positions detection system that monitors and tracks aggravated symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome using sensors and microcontroller-based Bluetooth wireless communication system. The proposed system uses flex sensors to detect the changes in the wrist positions. Corresponding voltage values are A/D converted and transmitted to a computer to be displayed, saved, and further analyzed to determine the position of the wrist. The proposed system provides non-invasive methods that enable a long term, mobile monitoring of the wrist positions with minimal intrusion to a patient. The proposed system is also equipped with a feedback system to alert the user of aggravating conditions.
