Abstract

Cheng, William Musical criticism Musicology Nonfiction
[MARC Cheng] (music, media, and ethics, Dartmouth) calls for a reparative musicology. He demands an end to combative academic tactics wholly at odds with the creative foundations of music. Cheng tears apart notions of "objective" methods, arguing that they breed suspicion and paranoia that injure-repeatedly and catastrophically-the impetus to explore music as richly subjective human narrative.
