Abstract
Similar to any other classroom endeavor, our experience has shown us that teachers who discover and develop their own comfortable system for organizing materials, structuring activities, and providing individualized support and guidance for students create a successful classroom environment for SEM-R, Many of the suggestions for implementing and using the SEM-R found were developed by classroom teachers searching for a practical solution to their own organizational dilemmas. Among the topics introduced are the creation of a classroom library and the ways in which you can organize your classroom to encourage enjoyment in reading. The management suggestions for each of the three phases have come from our most experienced SEM-R teachers. We want to remind you, however, that the SEM-R is designed to be flexible. We share these examples from elementary and middle schools to help you understand how some teachers have enhanced and modified this enrichment approach to reading according to the needs of their particular group of readers.
