- Title
- Hemingway, Fitzgerald and the Muse of Romantic Music
- Author/Creator
- Nicole J. Camastra
- Annotation
- Camastra takes a music-historical approach to consider how Romantic music inspired the works of Hemingway and Fitzgerald in the mid-1930s, a time of critical crisis for both writers, with particular focus on Winner Take Nothing and Fitzgerald’s Tender Is the Night. She concludes that to read the two as Romantic Modernists is to more strongly acknowledge their work as an extension of the nineteenth-century artistic tradition.
